Local Opportunities

The Sullivan County Public Library Alliance is seeking the next Poet Laureate! To be eligible, applicants must reside in Sullivan County (full or part-time), have a body of literary work, and be available for a two-year appointment.

The Livingston Manor-Roscoe Library is seeking enthusiastic students to participate in our Summer Internship Program! While the warmth of summer may still feel like a distant dream, it will be here before we know it. This paid opportunity is open to Rockland Central School District students in 10th and 11th grade and provides a great introduction to the library world and valuable professional experience.

2026 Battle of the Books Q&A

Battle of the Books is a friendly competition and team building experience for students currently in 6th through 11th grades. Participants will read eight preselected titles and then participate in trivia battles based on the books at a Regional Battle, usually scheduled in late August. Battle of the Books promotes a love of reading in teens, exposes them to titles and authors that they might not encounter otherwise, and encourages them to think of their local library as a resource for entertainment.

On Saturday, March 21st at 12:30pm at the Livingston Manor Branch, team leader Jess will host a Q&A for parents and students to learn about Battle of the Books. Get your questions answered and join the team!
