State Aid Making Library Improvements Possible

Thanks to our legislators and their support of the State Aid for Library Construction Program, the Livingston Manor Branch was able to have new flooring installed in January 2025, replacing more-than-a-decade-old carpeting and creating a brighter, cleaner, and more inviting atmosphere. The NYS Library Construction Aid covered a pivotal 75% of the cost. Thank you to Brian Maher, Assembly District 101, and Peter Oberacker, Senate District 51 for supporting this program.

The Library is applying for further aid to replace outdated windows at the Roscoe Branch to improve energy efficiency and weathertightness. Aid programs such as the above are crucial for many libraries to provide pleasant, safe, and accessible spaces for their patrons that meet modern construction standards.

Exo

Colin Brush

The Last Days of Marilyn Monroe

James Patterson

Book of Lives: A Memoir of Sorts

Margaret Atwood

available in print, ebook, and audiobook

How does one of the greatest storytellers of our time write her own life? In this long-awaited memoir, the author of The Handmaid’s Tale reflects on being “at least two beings: the one who lives, and the one who writes.”

Raised by scientifically minded, fiercely independent parents, Atwood spent much of her childhood in the forests of northern Quebec. Her early life was nomadic, isolated, and sometimes forlorn, but also thrilling and beautiful. From this unconventional start, she unfolds the story of her life, linking seminal moments to the books that shaped our literary landscape.
