Kindergarten Readiness Kits

Are you getting your preschooler ready for that big move into kindergarten? 

Pick up a free Reading Readiness Kit at the Livingston Manor Branch! This kit is designed to help families with this exciting transition:

July may be coming to a close, but the library will continue to offer a wide range of children’s programs throughout August. There is also still plenty of time for kids and teens to take on the Summer Reading Challenge, earn prizes, and attend a celebratory pizza party!

Celebrate a summer of activities and reading with an interactive show! Join Robert Rivest, master of mime, comedy, improv, and storytelling, to share a laughter-filled experience with the library.

Time Travel Drama Camp

Join the library for a week of creativity, collaboration, and time-traveling fun! At Drama Camp, participants will dive into theater games, build acting skills, and work as a team to create and perform an original play inspired by our favorite characters from the Who Was? book series.

Led by local drama teacher and playwright Jess Kaufman, young artists will journey through history as they help write the script, bring famous figures to life on stage, and prepare for a final performance for family and friends.

Maker-in-Residence
Workshop Series

Teens and adults are invited to expand their artistic prowess or begin their journey of creative expression in this special Maker-in-Residence Workshop Series with award-winning mixed media artist Erica Hart.

Make a Nature Inspired Keepsake

Join Erica for a nature inspired workshop. Participants will use natural objects to create a personal keepsake. Bringing your own natural objects (e.g. feathers, bone, fur) is welcomed and encouraged.

Participants will make monoprints and will have the chance to experiment using natural objects, cut papers, and stencils (of butterflies, birds, and more).

Create one-of-a-kind fine art boxes using papers and images from books and magazines. Participants are welcome to bring favorite images from magazines, laser copies of personal photos, etc. or to use the provided materials.

Life Lived 1890-1920

Join Town of Rockland Historian Dr. Joyce Conroy for a presentation on the Progressive Era. Discover what life was like in the Town of Rockland during this pivotal time, roughly 1890-1920, marked by a concentrated push for social and political reform in response to the changes and issues that arose due to rapid industrialization. Dr. Conroy will discuss broader themes of the time as they tie in to a focused examination of local life in the Catskills.

Manor Ink

Manor Ink is seeking student reporters! Working with our local award-winning youth-led newspaper is not only a great way for students to spend their summer hours, but it offers a unique and invaluable experience for aspiring writers, photographers, journalists, and the like.

Teens ages 12 to 17 are invited to engage with the community, share their voice, and earn financial rewards for their writing and art along the way. Manor Ink meets every Wednesday at 3:00pm. Adult mentors are encouraged to join as well.
